The Owls Head - Mt. View Fire Department provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services within the Town of Bellmont and Town of Duane in Franklin County NY and the surrounding region. The department has been providing emergency services for approximately 2500 people in a rugged area in the foothills of the Northern Adirondack Mountains for 50 years.
The Mt. View Fire Station is being sold because the Fire Dept has consolidated services to its primary station in Owls Head. The station is a ~1,300 sq ft garage with two bays and would be well suited to use as a garage for storage or a mechanic shop. The building is structurally in good shape, insulated, and has a working furnace. The building sits on a half acre lot in the Village of Mt. View near the Mt. View Inn.
March 2010: Owls Head - Mt. View Fire Dept puts Polaris Ranger 6X6 Wildland/Rescue unit in service.
The
new grand funded Wildland/Rescue unit will be used for wildland
firefighter and rescue throughout the region. The new unit
carries 75 gallons of water, has a 9.5 Honda firefighting pump,
5 gallons of foam, 500' of 1" forestry line, a chainsaw and a
rescue basket. The unit also has emergency lighting and a

January 2009: Meacham Inn in Paul Smith's NY fire.
Owls Head - Mt. View units provide support to Paul Smith - Gabriel's Volunteer Fire Department mutual aid at Meacham Inn Bar & Grill Fire. The Restaurant is located approximately 30 minutes from the nearest fire department and this fast moving fire occurring in freezing temperatures proved to be very challenging. September 18, 2007:
Tamarack Inn in Duane NY tragically burns to the ground.
