13-ATV-1:

The Owls Head – Mt. View Fire Dept. put a new Polaris 6X6 Unit in Service this year in response to a significant increase in emergencies in remote locations throughout our response district.  This new unit will give the Fire Dept. the ability to reach persons that are injured in the backcountry (ATV, Snowmobile, Logging Accidents, etc.) and quickly transport them to an awaiting Ambulance while an EMT cares for them.  The unit is capable of safely transporting one patient over very rugged terrain in any weather conditions.  This unit will save lives each year in our primary response area and throughout Franklin County.

This unit was purchased for $7,069.00 from Polaris Government Sales.  An additional $1,300 of equipment including front and back winches and a heavy duty wilderness stretcher were purchased with the unit.  The purchase of the unit was made possible by generous donations from the following individuals and organizations and a $2,000 grant from a national corporation.
