13-UTV-1:
The Owls Head – Mt. View Fire Dept. put a new Polaris Ranger 6X6 Unit in Service in 2010 in response to a significant increase in emergencies in remote locations throughout our response district. This new unit will give the Fire Dept. the ability to reach persons that are injured in the backcountry (ATV, Snowmobile, Logging Accidents, etc.) and quickly transport them to an awaiting Ambulance while an EMT cares for them and to fight wildland fires in remote areas. The unit is capable of safely transporting one patient over very rugged terrain in any weather conditions and carries 75 gallons of water for fire suppression. This unit will save lives and property each year in our primary response area and throughout Franklin County. This unit was grant funded. An additional $5,300 of equipment including a skid unit and chainsaw were purchased with the unit.
